Life is a bumpy ride for all of us and Nate has many challenges that he has overcome and any more that he is working on overcoming. If you know Nate, you know that he loves friends, family and to joke around. Many people think of Autism Spectrum and they think of people with no sense of humor or everything being literal.... Now a lot of instructions do have to be very literal when given to Nate, and some jokes he may take literally, but he does have a great sense of humor , he can be sarcastic and most important he loves to giggle.... Just like every other neurotypical kid and teen who is going around saying 6-7, Nate is too and after he is in a fit of giggles. Who doesn't love hearing their child giggle???? This year when we talked about our families team name for The Pajama Walk, Nate insisted that 6-7 be in there.... so for those that don't know what it is... it's just another silly "trendy" saying.....
Friendship Circle has been a game changer for Nate. He can't wait for Tuesday afternoons when he meets with his teen friend, Dylan. He also looks forward to his Sunday afternoon Friendship Circle meet up with all of the other Friendship Circle participants, it like one huge playdate with friends and always an awesome and creative activity. Friendship Circle is very near and dear to our family for so many reasons and I am running out of space to type :-) Please join our family and our team for the Pajama Walk on 12/7. If you do not live in Charlotte, NC or can not make it that day, please consider a donation to our team in Nate's honor. It would mean the world to us!!!! Please look for "Team Nate 6-7"
This December, I'm stepping out in my pajamas. Not because I'm too lazy to do laundry but because I'm committing to make dreams come true for my child, and for ALL children, teens, and adults of ALL abilities.
